A birthday page for a brother who would never admit he liked it

Brothers exchange gift cards and insults and almost nothing else, and that works right up until somebody does the other thing. Keep the tone you already have, put in the photographs from before either of you had a job, and say one true sentence at the end.

One sentence you have never said

Bury it at the end after twelve lines of abuse so it arrives without warning. Men get almost no plain sentences from other men, which is exactly why one lands the way it does here.

The years nobody photographed well

The bad camera era, the shared bedroom, the car you both drove badly. Those pictures are on your parents phone and in a drawer, and they are the ones that stop him scrolling.

His friends will play along

Ask five of them for one story each and tell them the tone. They will overdeliver, because a group of men given permission to roast someone affectionately has never once needed a second reminder.

Their birthday is coming.

Questions, answered

What do you write on a birthday page for your brother?

Keep the tone you already use and change it once, at the end. A page that is sincere throughout will not sound like you and he will be embarrassed by it. Twelve lines of abuse and one honest sentence will not.

Can I get his friends involved?

Yes, and tell them the register when you ask. Send one invite link, ask for a specific story rather than a message, and set a cutoff. You approve everything before it appears, so nothing goes on that should not.

Will he actually look at it?

He will open it once out of obligation and again later on his own. That is the usual pattern with anything that takes effort to make. Send it in the morning and do not ask him what he thought of it.
